Description

A lathe knurling tool is, importantly, a device used to give the workpiece, typically metal, a textured surface. This process, known as knurling, aims to perform several functions: at first, providing a good grip by producing some sort of ridges on the surface in which the item would be easier to hold or operate; it is utilized for creating handles to tools and knobs in machinery where an item must be tightly held. Secondly, it may be decorative, enhancing the finished product's appeal. And also, in industry, this is sometimes used for identification, giving it a distinctive feel that helps distinguish similar parts. In use, the knurling tool is mounted on the lathe's tool post and pressed against the work as it rotates, stamping the desired pattern on its surface. Straight, diamond, or diagonal patterns can be created with various knurling wheels or by adjusting the tool setup.
